Working Through the Box

A collaborative project with a few sociology professors at the University of Chicago. They hosted an event centered around exploring Chicago and finding instances of Logistics at play, focusing on the idea of ‘the Box,’ and what it means to each of us.

I designed the website and small paraphilia (playing cards) to be used at the event.

The professors wanted a fun theme, one that felt tangible and playful, to contrast with the colors of a pervious projects of theirs with darker tones that they released over Covid. Eventually, we settled on a theme that felt like Tetris: focusing on pixels like they were the boxes/building blocks for a larger idea.

As participants of the event split up into various teams and visited different sites, I designed unique playing cards for each site, with symbols based on the characteristics of each location.
